Trekking on V-day

Our group had a trekking trip to Taal Volcano last V-day(Feb14). It was the first time for me and April to go trekking. The trip started at TLYC Boat Ride approximately around one hour, but the real challenge began on the Kalawit “Secret” Trail. Due to lack of exercise, my whole body was shocked and easily got tired. We had to stop several times to rest and catch our breath. I almost vomit because of fatigue. Thank God we had H2O but i recommend Gatorade as a thirst quencher. I also suggest you drink an “energy drink” for extra energy of course. I was tempted to rent a horse being offered by the locals for 500 PHP but we opted not to because first, it was pricey, second, there’ll be no challenge if we ride one. Ok back to the story. We reached our first pitstop where we can rest and sit while enjoying the view of the Taal crater. Picture taking to the max. After resting, our group is now ready to go down to the crater itself. It was a hot close encounter. Sun is shining to the max, some part of the lake was hot and you could see the water boiling. We setup our packed lunch on one of the bushes. After getting enough rest, we decided to go up again (which is always the hard part). Some techniques I’ve developed along the way.. First, don’t look up. Just look at your two feet while walking your way up. Looking up will just be a burden, thinking of the way you’ll have to walk to. Second, think of happy thoughts. Use your imagination. LOL!

Some lessons learned:
1. Going down is more easy than going up. This is the best example of Physics.
2. A 50 Peso of Pop Cola is worth Drinking for.

Here are some pics taken from the crater.
